Il film crea una biografia alternativa basata sugli scritti di David Grossman.

Utilizzando la sua voce, passiamo da un personaggio all’altro attraverso le varie storie. Come in una staffetta, i personaggi trasportano il loro autore, i giovani e gli anziani, gli uomini e le donne costruiscono un percorso di vita individuale con infinite possibilità di esistenza.

“Se potessi solo parlarvi della scrittura per 3 ore sarebbe la cosa migliore” suggerisce. Abbiamo iniziato a parlare di romanzi e, contrariamente a quanto ha affermato in precedenza, la vita irrompe immediatamente.

“Ognuno di noi ha infinite possibilità di esistenza” dice Grossman “Ognuno di noi potrebbe essere così tante persone diverse. Se volete sapere perché scrivo – e questo è uno dei motivi – è per sapere come ci si sente a essere una persona diversa. Anche se quest’altra persona fosse il mio più grande incubo, anche se fosse un comandante Nazista – l’esatto opposto di me stesso. Quando ho scritto “See Under Love”, volevo diventare lui. È un’ondata di libertà – ho realizzato all’improvviso che cosa vuol dire essere un cane, o un bambino, o un anziano uomo Palestinese. Questo, forse, è il piacere più grande che si trova nell’arte di scrivere”.

Il film spazia dai personaggi dei suoi romanzi alla storia personale dell’autore.

Come in una staffetta, i personaggi trasportano il loro autore. I giovani e gli anziani, gli uomini e le donne – tutti sono un’estensione della persona che li ha creati. Insieme con i personaggi dei suoi romanzi ci spostiamo dalla città al Kibbutz, al sentiero nazionale Israeliano, e costruiamo un percorso di vita individuale con infinite possibilità di esistenza.

The film creates an alternative-fiction biography based on the writings of David Grossman. Utilizing his own voice, we shift from character to character, throughout his various stories. As in a messenger race, the characters carry their author, the young and the old, men and women and build a one-man life course with endless possibilities of existence.

“If I could only talk to you for 3 hours just about writing it would be the best thing” he suggests. We start talking about the novels and, contrary to everything he said before, life immediately breaks out.

“Each and every one of us has endless possibilities of existence” Grossman says “Each and every one of us could have been so many different people. If you want to know why I write- that’s one of the reasons- to feel how it is to be someone else. Even if this other person is my biggest nightmare, even if he is a Nazi commander- the complete opposite of myself. When I wrote “See Under Love” I wanted to become him. It’s a surge of freedom- I suddenly realized what it’s like to be a dog, or a baby, or an elderly Palestinian man. That is, perhaps, the greatest pleasure of writing.”

The film ranges from characters in his novels to Grossmans’ own personal story. As in a relay race, the characters carry their author. The young and the old, men and women – all of whom are extension of the person who created them. Together with the characters of in his novels we move from the city to the Kibbutz, to Israeli national trail… and build a one-man life course with endless possibilities of existence.
